Eye Care Week - 23 March to 27 March 2009
(Eye Care Week was conducted from 23rd March to 27th March 2009)
Zhenghua Primary embarked on its yearly Eye Care Week Programme (ECWP). This year, with its theme “'Keep Myopia At Bay, Go Outdoors and Play!'”, many pupils took part in the various programmes organized by the department. Apart from the art competition for the lower primary and presentation/discussion on keeping good eye care for the upper primary, we also encouraged music teachers to play the Eye Care Jingle during the Eye Care Week.
Another exciting activity is our Frisbee activity, where pupils are encouraged to go outdoors and play Frisbee with their friends. We encouraged pupils to form groups with other ethnic groups to enhance their inter-racial bonding (National Education).

To help our classmates practice good eye care
Not just in school, but everywhere.
Limit near work each day,
Play less with handheld games we say.
Going outdoors should be the way,
To keep myopia at bay!
We believe eye care is easy, it’s a cheer
Everyone can join in, our teachers and peers
Together as one, we shall fight myopia!

Fruittie Veggie Bites Programme 2009
Dear parents/guardian.
Fruits and vegetables provide many essential vitamins and minerals for healthy living, and that eating a diet rich in fruit and vegetables can lower the risk of and prevent a number of serious illnesses and health problems, such as cancer and high blood pressure. As the childhood and adolescent years are imperative in the formation and inculcation of positive health and health-related habits, our school is partnering with Health Promotion Board to organize the Fruttie Veggie Bites Programme from 19 January to 20 February 2009. This programme seeks to promote the consumption of fruit and vegetables and reinforce the importance of consuming these among the young. With this programme, students will be issued with a card each time they purchase a fruit or vegetables from the school canteen. Students then consolidate their cards as a class effort and the class with the highest fruit and vegetable intake will be rewarded. The cards also contain simple messages to reiterate the importance of eating a variety of fruit and vegetables. Please reinforce this health message to your child by encouraging your child to include fruit and vegetables in their daily diets and also encourage them to consume 2 servings of fruit and 2 servings of vegetables every day. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any enquiries.
